MEDEA (1969) - ANTONIONI & PASOLINI movie posters (Part 4)
The last movie in PIER PAOLO PASOLINI's mythical trilogy after The Gospel According To St Matthew (1964) and Oedipus Rex (1967).
Pasolini chose to adapt Euripides’ Medea casting the Opera Diva Maria Callas (in her only non singing role) and French thespian Laurent Terzieff as Chiron the centaur. Shot in Germany’s open air museum filled with old churches, Pasolini (a playwright himself) managed to capture the mystical aspect of the play in this grandiose movie.
The Japanese poster above is again one of the most beautiful with la Callas’ piercing eyes surrounded by dark ravenous flames
